Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of skills does the community have?
add
Data science, data engineering, machine learning, LLMs, AI.  Image recognition, regression, artificial neural networks, generative adversarial networks, reinforcement learning. MLOps, productionizing solutions, deployment.  Sounds like a list of buzz-words, doesn’t it?  Our community is made up of the best and brightest, who are constantly motivated to learn the latest approaches to using data to solve impactful problems.
What kind of projects can the community get done?
add
Predictive maintenance, plant and machinery optimization, failure prediction, process optimization, image classification, diagnosis, predicting yield and consumption, energy consumption forecasting, supply chain optimisation.  You name it; if you want to predict, classify, or optimize it, the humyn.ai community can get it done.
What about IP?
add
You own any IP the community creates in exchange for payment.
A typical engagement results in an exchange of ownership of the top solutions in exchange for prize money. All of your pre-existing IP remains yours. You are free to enter any agreement with community members as you both see fit following projects.
What about data privacy and security?
add
All data you provide is and remains your exclusive property.  Our terms of participation limit the rights of our community with respect to your data – this is equivalent to how you would manage risk with any other contractor. We have robust systems in place governing our use of your data. We have passed data and security audits of multi-national industrial companies. In some cases, obfuscation of data may be recommended.  In most cases, we can perform obfuscation of your data during a project at no additional cost.
How much does it cost?
add
A typical project that results in a robust machine learning solution that can be deployed into production in your business costs about 1/5 as much as the typical annual salary of a data scientist in the US. Tell us about what you’re trying to achieve - there are many data science projects that can be completed for less than that, and quite a few that require more resources.
Are we right for each other?
add
We're not for everyone. If you're looking for someone to be based in your office and build your data practice from scratch (a consultant), we're not the best fit. We know how to manage data science projects better than anyone else, but we don’t build bespoke enterprise data strategies. Besides, we'll share all of the data science best practices we’ve developed for free on our website.
How is this different from freelancing?
add
We have spent years perfecting a process for managing data science projects so that you don’t have to. As a result, there is no freelancer for you to manage or keep tabs on.  You don’t have to know which steps to follow or how to get value from a contractor. Because we use a competition approach, you get to choose the best solution from many, rather than engaging a freelance or contractor to produce just one.
